Please
note--- Envelopes!! Additionally, not every paper stock can be written on. Despite trying different inks, paints and combinations, some envelopes just defy the use of 'wet' media--try your papers with a fountain pen in advance to avoid disappointment. The higher the cotton
content, usually the better the quality of paper. There are some
suppliers that have lovely invites but provide inappropriate paper for envelopes
& place cards. |
Above prices are for translucent papers, black ink and typed listings. Highly textured, heavily lined, outsized 'belly bands' or 'dark/opaque' paper stock may present problems and would be subject to higher fees (if they can be written on with ink at all.) All work is hand-lettered. Additional fees may be applied due to paper stock, liners, hand (typeface/font), improperly prepared lists submitted and/or color of ink. All work subject to NY Sales Tax. Allow up to 2 to 3 weeks for completion of large orders or during peak wedding season. Book orders well in advance. 4-6 months for Spring-Summer weddings, 2-3 months for other periods. Rush orders are accepted if schedule permits; a 'rush' fee may apply. Check with me! All information submitted for work must be typewritten. PREFER lists by email---either pasted into email or by attached MSWord.doc in format prescribed below. Preparing Mailing Lists/Lists of Names Please use at least 12pt clear font such as NYTimes. NO ABBREVIATIONS (including "&"). DO NOT SUBMIT LIST IN ALL CAPS!or color coded. Spell out all cities, states, street, roads, avenues, boulevards, lanes, courts... I do not edit for etiquette or accuracy. If you have questions, I would be happy to assist as you prepare your list. Submitted lists should have complete information, including: Salutation--Mr/Ms/Mrs/Miss/Dr./Rabbi/Reverend
(Academic titles such as Professor are not considered appropriate for
social gatherings). For Military, Justices/Judges and other titles,
refer to an etiquette book such as Crane's Blue Book. Titles such as "Dr."
are listed first, regardless of gender. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones not Mr. & Mrs. Bob Jones. Street Address Lists should be prepared "Flush Left", 2 columns: Outer
Inner
Numerals are usually used for street addresses; numbers 1-20 can be written out. Numbered streets can appear either way. (Crane's Blue Book) Some street addresses are normally abbreviated such as streets in Washington DC and areas of Florida (Coast Avenue SW; Connecticut Avenue NW) Married couples but wife retained her last name use 'and': Mr. John Wilson and Ms. Susan Black If unmarried and residing at same address, "and" is not used: Mr. Sam Jones Ms. Jennifer LakeThe same is true for inner envelopes and escort cards. If you are uncertain of format of a foreign address or a zip code, check online resources such as Mapquest, USPS.com or http://www.sover.net/~lpickup/countries.html For invites using outer envelopes only: It is not considered proper to include 'and family' or 'and guest' on the outer envelope but it is often the choice of the event host. Alternatively, a small inner card can be inserted with names of those also invited with "and Children" or "and Guest" to inform them the invitation includes others. Additional charges may apply for extra lines to include several family members. If adding additional names/lines for outer envelopes, an additional line charge of $1.50 per line is charged. Children under 18 ---first names only on line under parents names. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harrison Susan and JamesFor Place Cards, Escort/Seating cards: These little envelopes or tent cards are quite small and there are limits to how small I can write and what your guests can easily read!. It is nice to be consistent with your names; either all are 1 line or 2 lines. Ampersand (&) can be used instead of "and" to shorten the lines. It is not necessary to include first names unless there are duplicates---then add a first initial to distinguish (These are 'Simple" names) Mr. J. Anderson Mr. P. AndersonOr...have a card for every guest and just use first & last names (Adding first names for all your guests will be additional 50 cents per name). Jim Anderson Peter AndersonSome long names must go on 2 lines. SInce it is rare that married couples names will all fit on one line, I split the name (shown below) for all the couples to be consistent. Mr. and Mrs. Hammondstein-Wells It is important to consider the names on your guest list when choosing format and what will be written on (envelope, card...or be creative...tags for favors! napkin rings for place cards. Mini-picture frames.) Set a theme; grapes on Table cards for named tables---Chianti, Merlot.... HINT: It is easier for bridal couple to use small envelopes---final table assignments can be made last minute and seating changed. With tent cards, names and table assignments are given to me at same time; changes require re-doing of individual cards.
